Join us this summer for a one-of-a-kind cultural experience that brings the beauty and creativity of Chinese intangible heritage to life! Our 2025 Intangible Cultural Heritage Summer Camp will take place in Edmonton, featuring the timeless art of lantern and kite making.
This hands-on, fun-filled camp is designed for children ages 6–13 and will run in two sessions:
🗓️ Camp 1: August 11–15, 2025
🗓️ Camp 2: August 18–22, 2025
🕰️ Daily Hours: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM
🎨 Lantern & Kite Making Workshops: Guided by experienced cultural instructors, campers will learn to design, build, and decorate their own traditional lanterns and kites.
🌍 Cultural Exploration: Discover the rich history, symbolism, and storytelling behind these traditional Chinese crafts.
🧑🏫 Special Guest Artist – Cao Hong:
We are honoured to welcome Cao Hong, a third-generation artisan from Nanjing and official inheritor of the Qinhuai Lantern & Kite Craft, a designated form of Chinese intangible cultural heritage. Her vibrant, hand-crafted works have been showcased in exhibitions across China and internationally. Campers will have the rare opportunity to learn directly from her and witness traditional craftsmanship in action.
🪁 Special Event – Kite Festival Showcase:
On August 23, families are invited to celebrate their child’s creativity at our Kite Festival, where campers’ creations will be on display and take flight!
Children ages 6–13 who are curious, creative, and interested in exploring traditional arts in a fun, supportive environment. No prior experience required!
Registration Fee: $295/person/camp
Includes all materials, instruction, and event access.
